ACT Syllabus and exam pattern
The ACT comprises four core sections—English, Math, Reading, and Science—plus an optional Writing test (Essay). The total duration of the ACT is 3 hours and 35 minutes if you include the essay, and 2 hours and 55 minutes without it. You will be given two breaks: a brief break following the second section and a second break after the fourth section for those who choose to take the optional Writing test.
